We7 Nominated for Digital Achievement of the Year award!

Feb 27, 2008

We7 has been nominated in the category of Digital Achievement of the Year for the Music Week 2008 Awards. The awards, organised by the music industry's trade paper Music Week, recognise companies and individuals that have made a significant impact on the music business in 2008.

A new award for 2008, The Digital Achievement of the Year category identifies products and services that have been innovative in their conception and successful in achieving their objectives.

Having launched in May 2007 with just a handful of tracks available to users, by the end of the year We7 had scored over 1 Million downloads, 100,000 registered users and more than 500,000 licensed tracks from leading independent labels and distributors.

We7 is set to build on the successes of 2007. Having already achieved 2 million downloads, 2008 will see We7 dramatically increase the amount of free music available to its users and continue to offer users innovative access to free music, while still ensuring artists and labels are fairly paid for their work.

Commenting on the nomination, We7 CEO Steve Purdham said "This nomination is a testament to the progress we have made in such a short time and further signifies the shift in music industry thinking to adopt new business models. We are all looking forward to building on and surpassing the achievements of 2007, in 2008."
