The summer holidays are here, so you'll probably be jetting off somewhere hot and exotic. Hopefully you'll be going somewhere where you can forget about the laptop, the mobile phone and the general daily grind for a few weeks...
If you're heading somewhere hot, then you'll have your pick of sandy beaches, or, if you prefer, tourist hot spots. Maybe you'll be off to the Balearics for some partying, or you may decide to take the sightseeing route and visit the Pyramids in Egypt, or perhaps you're even planning an adventure in the jungles of the Amazon in deepest, darkest South America...
However, if you're having a "staycation" (an American invention - it means you stay at home for your holiday) instead of heading abroad for a few weeks, you can switch off the TV, ignore the mobile and computer and discover what's going on in your local area. What are you missing out on by working all day? What about a quick visit to the Notting Hill Carnival in London at the end of August? The blend of reggae, soca and calypso will bring a taste of the Caribbean to the capital city!
Of course, by the end of your holiday you'll probably be desperate to get back to work, to the safety of your own desk - away from the nagging kids, sand in your pants, terrible sunburn...
To help get you in the mood, We7 brings you the best summer tracks from our site. After we brought you our Festivals feature a few weeks back, we took another look and discovered something: bands love the summer. It's true. They can't get enough of those months from June to September when the temperature rises. More specifically, they love the sunshine. It's not just Cliff Richard planning his trip away while driving his big red bus; from Mungo Jerry to Wham! and, er, Boney M, bands love to sing about the holidays and the long, hot, summer months.
Whatever you're doing on your holidays, we hope you have a great time. Before you pack the bucket and spade and Factor 20, have a listen to We7's top summer tunes to get you in that holiday mood. And don't forget to send us a postcard!
It would be impossible not to mention everybody's favourite bachelor boy. Darren Day does his best Cliff Richard impression. We think it works quite well.
A track that has become as much a part of summer as deckchairs.
An all-time favourite of the We7 team and an all-time summer classic.
We had to fit in one cheesy number somewhere. Try as you may, you just can't help but sing along, can you?
A classic summer party track about the Mexican city. It radiates sunshine from every beat and is sure to get you up and dancing.
A hot and sexy number for a sultry summer night.
A lazy, lazy song for a lazy afternoon. Sounds good when drinking a particular brand of cider, apparently.
A sticky, sweaty song.
Marvin Aday's ode to gothic teenage love. Contains just a hint of Phil Spector style rhythms.
"I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch." Don't we all...
Maybe more famous for its video, George and Andrew's 80s hit has a perfect Balearic vibe to it.
A carnival classic - get in line for the conga!
