Top 12 Football Songs
After what seemed like an eternity (but was actually only a few months) the Beautiful Game has now returned. The new football season is kicking off throughout Europe this month - the English and Scottish leagues are underway, and the Spanish, French and Italian's will also soon be getting back into action. After the excitement of last season, the all-English Champions League final, and Euro 2008, we're looking forward to being able to fill our Saturdays with something meaningful and joyful again, after the long, barren summer months. Pre-season is over and the transfer window is closing, so get ready to settle in for football's return...
So to celebrate the start of the new season, we've had a quick scout around the We7 site to select our top football tracks. We found twelve songs that we think sum up the best bits about the Beautiful Game. We went for a mixture of fans' songs and pop songs that over the years have been adopted by supporters to become fan-favourites - songs from artists you wouldn't normally associate with football such as Neil Diamond, Jeff Beck and Johnny Cash, that have nevertheless found their way into the stands.
