Press We7 is music to NME's ears
Feb 26, 2009
NME.COM and NME Radio have teamed up with free music service We7 to bring great music tracks to users, giving them the facility to instantly click and play tracks from their favourite bands.
The partnership between the pioneering digital music service and NME will allow NME Radio to showcase some of its favourite artists to users across NME.COM. Music will be delivered from We7's extensive music catalogue via their music widget which will work alongside NME Radio as an on-demand service to complete the NME.com audio experience.
NME.com advertisers are also set to benefit from the increase in users' dwell time staying on the site to hear their tracks streamed by a legal service which discourages piracy and provides the opportunity for labels and artists to monetise their catalogue.
"At We7 we believe that whenever there is a reference to an artist, song or Album on the Internet that it should be possible to immediately listen to the music. By working with the legendary NME that belief becomes a reality and fans and artists all win. In my view, this simple idea will become just standard practice in the years to come" - Steve Purdham - CEO, We7
NME publishing director Paul Cheal says: "NME has built on its heritage and credibility to become a truly unique multi-platform media proposition. This service complements NME.COM perfectly."
